The Paramedic is a vital member of the Christus Health Emergency Department team, providing advanced life support and patient care under the supervision of licensed physicians. This role requires a certified and/or licensed paramedic to work collaboratively with nursing staff, providing assistance and performing procedures as delegated.
Key Responsibilities- Operate Patient Monitoring Equipment: Completely operate patient monitoring equipment, record rhythm strips, run 12 lead EKGs, biomarkers, and glucometer readings under the direction of the licensed physician.
- Perform Phlebotomy and Specimen Collection: Perform phlebotomy, collect laboratory specimens as ordered, and insert saline lock, Foley catheter, and nasal gastric tubes under the direction of the licensed physician.
- Assist with Patient Care: Assist in patient care, obtain and document vital signs, provide patient hygiene, maintain clear and respectful communications with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Maintain a Clean and Safe Environment: Maintain a clean and safe environment, manage all assigned supplies and equipment, and demonstrate proficiency in setting up and performing procedures as delegated.
- Transport Patients: Transport patients to radiology and nursing units (except ICU) utilizing appropriate transport and monitoring equipment.
- Compliance and Competencies: It is the responsibility of the Paramedic to comply with the Hospital's defined job description and competencies.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education/Skills: High School Diploma
- Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: DL in state of employment, EMT P License in state of employment, BLS
