Job Summary

Cynet Health is seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team. As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, you will work with mothers during antepartum, labor, recovery, and postpartum periods. Your responsibilities will include monitoring mother and fetus vital signs, reporting any signs or symptoms of possible complications, and assisting the MD with delivery of the fetus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and monitor patients throughout the labor process, identifying complications and taking appropriate action.
  • Monitor contractions and help patients with breathing techniques, while also monitoring patients on telemetry.
  • Perform basic IV and central line skills, as well as phlebotomy skills.
  • Administer pain medication as ordered, and other medications to address specific medical conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.
  • Take and record patient vital signs, and ascertain if there are any problematic readings.
  • Read fetal monitor strips and ascertain if there are any problems with the baby's heart rate.
  • Identify and manage life-sustaining physiological functions in unstable patients.
  • Check patient's cervix periodically to monitor progression or lack of dilation.
  • Ensure patient's bed is kept dry and clean, and clean up bodily fluids expelled before and after the birthing process.
  • Contact anesthesia when the patient is ready for an epidural, and contact the delivering physician at the appropriate time.
  • Care for patients on Pitocin, MgSO4, and continuous lumbar epidural.
  • Ensure patient is in the proper position for delivery, and that all monitoring equipment is functioning properly.
  • Aid the doctor with drapes, gloves, gowns, etc., and hand the doctor delivery instruments as needed during the birthing process.
  • Assist the MD in the Operating Room for C-Section, and monitor patient on telemetry.
  • Be proficient in Cardiac Arrest Team Member.
  • Provide immediate care of the newborn, including cleaning, weighing, etc.
  • Give Apgar scores.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current nursing license, in good standing.
  • Minimum of one (1) year Labor and Delivery experience.
  • AHA BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN, Fetal Monitoring.
