Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist to join our team at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, working closely with our surgical team to provide exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, maintaining a safe and efficient operating room environment.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure accurate and timely completion of surgical procedures.
  • Participate in pre-operative and post-operative patient care, providing emotional support and addressing any concerns or questions.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist in a hospital setting.
  • Proven experience with DaVinci Xi robotics and Cerner electronic medical records.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an orthopedic or neuro spine surgical environment.
  • Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and patient safety protocols.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
