Adjunct Instructor, Surgical Technology Specialist

The Surgical Technology Instructor will report directly to the Surgical Technology Program Director. The duties of this position may include:
- Providing quality and innovative instruction in classroom and lab settings
- Supervising clinical experiences in hospital or nursing home settings
- Continuing professional development to maintain current knowledge and clinical expertise
- Performing other related duties as required
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Teaching and evaluating students in surgical technology courses
- Developing and implementing curriculum to meet the needs of the program
- Maintaining academic standards as established by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA)
- Establishing effective working relationships with colleagues and students
- Serving on departmental and college committees as assigned
The ideal candidate will possess:
- National Certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
- A minimum of two years of experience as a Surgical Technologist
- An Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology or related field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with diverse populations and maintain a professional demeanor
The Surgical Technology Instructor will work in a normal classroom and lab setting, with occasional travel required. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, speak, listen, and see, with occasional sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects. A valid Texas Driver's License is required.
