Culinary Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Assistant to join our team at the Convalescent Center in Nespelem, WA. As a key member of our Food Services team, you will assist the senior meal center head cook with the planning, preparation, and serving of nutritious meals to our clients.

Responsibilities

• Assist with menu planning, food purchases, and maintaining sanitary conditions in the kitchen.
• Prepare and serve meals to clients in a congregate setting and deliver meals to clients at their homes.
• Work collaboratively with the senior meal center head cook to ensure the highest quality of food and service.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, and other program staff.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required; 3-6 months of experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain a Food Handlers Permit within 5 days of employment.
• Knowledge of food preparation and serving a variety of foods in quantity amounts.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
• Ability to work independently and follow a line of authority.

Working Conditions

This is a non-exempt position that requires the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The successful candidate will be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
