Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Controls Specialist to join our team at US Tech Solutions. As a key member of our staff augmentation firm, you will be responsible for providing hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment, including troubleshooting and process start-up of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Supervise and provide direction to contract engineering techs, internal maintenance, and outside contract trades during all aspects of equipment installation and conversion.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, process start-up, design, and documentation of Electrical and Controls Systems for new or modified production equipment.
  • Modify existing documentation to complete drawing packages, installation checklists, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specs of production equipment.
  • Modify machine control programs for new or existing process equipment, including but not limited to pick-n-place, servo driven manipulators, robotics, automated part traffic flow, valve control of process gases and fluids, PLC controlled I/O, and machine communication networks.
  • Assess condition and usability of existing equipment for fit and function with new installation plans.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical controls and mechatronics systems.
  • Strong practical hands-on aptitude and electro-mechanical troubleshooting ability.
  • Proficient with electrical schematics and motion control knowledge, including servo, stepper, DC, and AC drives.
  • Process variable understanding, including flow, temperature, rate, pressure, and level.
  • Thorough understanding of current loops and serial communication knowledge, including RS232 / 485, Ethernet, and IEEE-488.
  • Machine control knowledge and classical control theory understanding.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Fluke Meters, Oscilloscopes, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Programmable Controllers and equipment used for machine installation activities, including man lifts and hand tools.
