Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Orthoptist to join our team at The University of Kansas Health System. As an Orthoptist, you will play a critical role in providing direct patient care, performing ophthalmologic work-ups, and assisting in the coordination and technical education of fellows, residents, and orthoptic students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Perform standard intake work-ups, document findings, and consult with physicians as needed.
  • Communication: Call patients, relay information, and follow through with messages and assignments.
  • Clinical Management & Leadership: Serve as a role model, suggest improvements, and assist with maintaining and repairing equipment.
  • Education: Orient new technical personnel, evaluate competency, and assist in the training of residents.
  • Research: Participate in seminars, deliver papers, and review charts for possible study enrollment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • National certification by the American Orthoptic Council as an Orthoptist (required within 1 year).
