Job Title:Family Attorney
About the Role:We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Family Law Attorney to join our diverse legal team. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in family law and a commitment to providing exceptional service to clients facing complex family legal matters.
Responsibilities:- Client Consultation & Case Management: Provide comprehensive consultations to clients, assessing their legal needs and developing tailored case strategies. Manage cases from intake through resolution, ensuring each client understands their rights and options.
- Legal Representation in Family Law Matters: Represent clients in family law cases, including but not limited to divorce, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, property division, prenuptial agreements, and post-judgment modifications.
- Court Appearances & Litigation: Advocate for clients in court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and mediation sessions. Present evidence, examine witnesses, and argue motions on behalf of clients.
- Drafting & Reviewing Legal Documents: Prepare, review, and file necessary legal documents, including petitions, pleadings, motions, and orders. Ensure all documentation adheres to Iowa state and local family law regulations.
- Collaboration with Legal Staff: Work closely with paralegals, administrative staff, and other attorneys within the firm to ensure comprehensive case preparation and effective client service.
- Case Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research and analysis of case law, statutes, and regulations relevant to each case to inform case strategy.
- Client Communication: Maintain regular and clear communication with clients, keeping them informed of case status, options, and progress.
- Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR): Pursue alternative dispute resolutions whenever possible, working to negotiate settlements that best serve clients' needs and minimize conflict.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in the state of Iowa and in good standing with the Iowa State Bar.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in family law, including courtroom experience.
- Strong understanding of Iowa family law statutes, case law, and procedures.
- Proven track record of successfully managing a family law caseload from intake through trial.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to handle emotionally sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy, and respect.
- Competitive salary within the $100,000 - $130,000 range, based on experience and performance.
