- Carry out other assigned responsibilities as needed.
- Adhere to all institutional policies and standards.
- Refer to departmental documentation for specific job duties during orientation.
- Ensure compliance with regulations regarding the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Educational Background
- Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related discipline is preferred.
- An Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is required.
Professional Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in critical care is mandatory.
- 5+ years of experience in adult respiratory care is preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong foundation in adult clinical care, including advanced therapies such as mechanical ventilation and airway management.
- Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
- Self-motivated and innovative, with the capacity to influence others.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals across various disciplines.
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
- Current Ohio Respiratory Care License is mandatory.
- Membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care is required.
- Certification in at least one advanced national credential by the NBRC or NAECB is necessary.
- Neonatal/Pediatric Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is preferred.
Position Insights
Candidates must possess at least 5 years of experience in respiratory therapy, with a significant portion in critical care settings. This role operates on a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, with a 24/7 on-call rotation.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Occasional climbing and balancing.
- Constant communication and coordination skills are essential.
