Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef to join our team. As a key member of our culinary staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of foods for our patients, guests, and cafeteria. Your expertise will ensure high-quality food production and service, while maintaining compliance with food safety and sanitation procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Food Preparation and Service: Prepare and cook food in large quantities for service to patients, guests, and cafeteria, including scratch cooking from basic ingredients and garnishing in an attractive manner.
  • Recipe Development and Communication: Participate in recipe development and communicate effectively with staff to ensure seamless execution.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Follow recipes to prepare and cook food items, modify or convert recipes for different quantities, special diets, and other needs, and perform daily equipment checks and temperature monitoring.
  • Inventory Management and Ordering: Maintain organized food production areas, coordinate food orders with the production team, and assist with inventory management, including ordering food supplies and maintaining stock rotation.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Assume lead responsibilities during scheduled working shifts, assist in scheduling work assignments, and ensure smooth operation of cafeteria services during the absence of a supervisor.
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, food storage, and work areas, and complete cleaning according to daily and weekly schedules.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum two (2) years of hospital, institutional, or restaurant cooking experience, including food preparation.
  • Education: High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Certifications: ServSafe Food Handler Program Certificate required at hire or Food Handling Certificate required at hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Associates degree in institutional food preparation.
  • Training: Post-high school on-the-job training in basic institutional food prep and cooking.
