Land Acquisition Internship at Meritage Homes

Meritage Homes is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Land Acquisition Intern to join our team. As a Land Acquisition Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn the land acquisition process, including searching for land, identifying land, underwriting the land, and closing processes.

You will work closely with internal business leaders to learn the homebuilding industry, the Meritage business model, and an assigned functional area such as construction, land, marketing, operations, purchasing, finance, human resources, etc.

The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to learn and grow, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the land acquisition process, including searching for land, identifying land, underwriting the land, and closing processes.
  • Conduct market research, financial analysis, buyer segmentation, and product pairing.
  • Work closely with internal business leaders to learn the homebuilding industry, the Meritage business model, and an assigned functional area.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects involving other interns and business leaders centered around current business challenges.
  • Present real-world business recommendations to senior leadership that can help drive our strategy.

Requirements:

  • Actively enrolled in a degree program from a regionally accredited university or college.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a team environment on cross-functional projects.
  • Experience dealing with ambiguity.
  • Experience in a leadership capacity or role and influencing peers.
