Job Summary:As a Vascular Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound imaging studies in various departments, including vascular lab, general medical, and echocardiography lab. Your expertise will help in providing accurate and timely diagnoses, enabling healthcare professionals to make informed decisions about patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform ultrasound procedures and examinations according to established department guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure understanding and consent for exams.
- Assess patient medical, cardiac, or vascular status by taking a thorough history before exams.
- Record all imaging studies for review and interpretation by the Medical Director or designee.
- Complete patient billing accurately and timely to ensure efficient financial processes.
- Support departmental functions, goals, and objectives, as well as the development of new programs.
- Participate in educational programs, in-services, workshops, and online CME to enhance professional growth and development.
- Practice safety and infection control policies, including universal precautions and hazardous waste disposal.
- Provide exceptional service to patients, families, and healthcare professionals, demonstrating care, courtesy, and respect.
- Collaborate with colleagues to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Graduate of an approved AS program in Medical Sonography or scheduled to graduate from an approved BS program with RDMS(AS) certification.
- 2-5 years' experience in abdominal, musculoskeletal, breast, and obstetrics and gynecology preferred.
- Registered (RDCS and/or RCS) certification required.
- BLS certification required.
- Additional certifications in (BR) and (OB/GYN) preferred.
May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids, and wastes. Regularly exposed to electrical and radiant energy hazards. Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements.
