The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nutrition Educator to join our team in Palm Beach County. As a Nutrition Educator, you will play a critical role in delivering a series of nutrition education lessons to groups of program participants, promoting healthy eating habits and improving nutrition security among adults and youth from low-income households.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Delivery: Participate in ongoing promotion and recruitment of audiences for nutrition education classes, teach nutrition education classes to eligible participants at various community sites, and collect demographic data on clients served.
  • Planning: Plan and prepare nutrition education lessons, improve knowledge of subject matter and teaching methods, and market the program through health fairs and other locations.
  • Training: Engage in professional development and training opportunities to maintain current knowledge of food and nutrition subject matter, become proficient in using the EFNEP teaching materials, and develop skills in virtual education.
  • Travel: Travel to assigned teaching sites from the official headquarters, stay within assigned travel allocation, and participate in mandatory attendance for the entire out-of-county annual training.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records and reports on clients and personnel requirements, submit reports on time, and work with agency staff in utilizing records, reports, and other resources to assist in program implementation and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience: Previous teaching experience or knowledge of nutrition desirable
  • Skills: Ability to plan and deliver nutrition education lessons, follow directions, and complete reports, working knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook) highly preferred
