The Clinical Pharmacist plays a vital role in the Department of Pharmacy at Bryan Health, responsible for providing quality and timely care to patients of all ages within the Medical Center.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure rational drug therapy and optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in Pharmacy Department and Medical Center programs to evaluate pharmaceutical use and improve patient care.
- Encourage prescribers to use the Medical Center formulary and suggest appropriate alternatives.
- Perform discharge medication teaching and pharmacokinetic dosage calculations as needed.
- Assist in the orientation, training, and assessment of Department personnel.
- Participate in Pharmacy Department assisted investigational drug studies and ensure proper dispensing and record-keeping.
- Ensure the timely, safe, and accurate distribution of medications, including the use of professional judgment.
- Transcribe and evaluate physician medication orders, prepare patient-specific unit dose medications, and compound and dispense medication orders accurately.
- Ensure the quality of pharmaceuticals within the Medical Center by performing patient care area inspections and removing recalled, defective, expired, or inappropriately stored pharmaceuticals.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and prioritize workload to ensure optimal patient care.
- Provide accurate drug information and respond to drug information requests from healthcare professionals.
- Report and document medication variances and participate in Pharmacy Department education and training programs.
Entry-level degree (B.S., Pharm.D.) from a college of pharmacy required. Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists preferred. Pharmacist licensure in the State of Nebraska required.
