Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Trauma Surgery Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing critical surgical care to patients in need of trauma intervention.
Work Schedule:
The schedule includes shifts on Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 AM to 7 PM, with no on-call duties. Thursday through Sunday shifts are available from 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM, with flexibility to accommodate the provider's preferences.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Active Pennsylvania State License
- Board Certified in Surgery
- Required Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, BLS, PALS
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Trauma, Acute Care, or Emergency General Surgery
Key Responsibilities:
The Trauma Surgery Specialist will be responsible for:
1. Performing independent procedures such as central lines and chest tubes.
2. Assisting in the operating room for various surgical cases.
3. Managing inpatient rounds and documentation, including ICU management and hospital discharges.
4. Responding to trauma alerts and conducting consultations.
Typical Workday:
The average day includes rounding on inpatients in the morning, followed by documentation of daily notes. The specialist will assist in surgical cases, respond to emergency department consults, and manage trauma alerts.
Patient Care:
- Average census: 20 patients
- Average admissions: 5 per day
- Patient mix: 70% surgical, 30% trauma
- Trauma Level: II
Procedures Performed:
- Central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, laceration repairs, incision and drainage, FAST exams.
- First assist in the operating room.
Electronic Medical Records:
Utilization of Cerner PowerChart for patient documentation.
Credentialing Timeframe:
Approximately 60-90 days for credentialing, with no emergency room privileges available.
