Job Summary

As a Staff Accountant at Postal Center International, you will be responsible for performing daily accounting tasks, including preparing sales tax documents and updating expense files. You will also be responsible for financial transactions and posting them in the general ledger, with a strong attention to detail. Additionally, you will carry out relevant administrative duties, such as responding to clients via email and handling invoices.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Maintain the general ledger.
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end financial close process.
  • Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books.
  • Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks.
  • Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manage accounts receivable collections.
  • Verify and/or complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Manage and maintain lease schedules.
  • Provide outside auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Coordinate with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommend updates to enhance the accounting software.
  • Manage the purchasing and invoicing system.
  • Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Preferred proficiency in the following accounting software: Great Plains, EPace, and Business Central.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration required.
  • 5 years or more of related experience required.
