Code Enforcement Inspector

Join the City of Racine, WI team as a Code Enforcement Inspector. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with city building, zoning, and related codes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct property maintenance inspections of commercial and residential properties.
- Issue legal orders to secure compliance with city building, zoning, and related codes.
- Work with property owners to explain and secure compliance with ordinances.
- Enforce the Racine Zoning Ordinance and make investigations and decisions regarding zoning complaints.
- Maintain records and prepare reports.
- Provide testimony in municipal court regarding building and zoning code violations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent with an Associate's Degree or 60 college credits in a related field.
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license with a good driving record.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to obtain the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) certification within eighteen months of hire.
Work Environment:
Air-conditioned office environment. Possible exposure to inclement weather while performing inspections.
