School Nurse Position

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled School Nurse to join our team at Bolivar Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing health services to students, including administering first aid, conducting health assessments, and maintaining accurate health records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the school health program
  • Conduct health assessments, including height/weight, vision, hearing, blood pressure, dental, and scoliosis screening
  • Referrals and follow-up counseling to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters
  • Maintain current immunization records on each student as required by Missouri Law
  • Administer first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures to students and staff
  • Implement Board policy on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases
  • Participate in in-service training programs
  • Assist school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in schools
  • Prepare and submit reports for the superintendent and the State Board of Health

Requirements:

  • Valid license to practice as a professional nurse in the state of MO
  • BSN degree preferably
  • Basic First Aid training and CPR/AED certified
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently
  • Ability to investigate, fact find, and problem-solve
  • Ability to interpret and follow directions
  • Ability to operate proficiently hardware and/or software specific to employment

Working Conditions:

The School Nurse will work in a school environment that is noisy and active. Occasionally, the individual may be required to work outdoors for short periods of time. Exposure to illness can be expected. The work will require the use of protective equipment such as masks or gloves.
