Job Summary

ASM Global, a leading provider of public assembly facilities, is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at the Broward County Convention Center. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and guide maintenance staff to ensure efficient and effective maintenance of building systems.
  • Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform general repairs and maintenance tasks, including drywall, carpet, and tile work, as well as repairs to furniture and fixtures.
  • Assist in checking and making minor repairs on general plumbing systems, fixtures, and kitchen equipment.
  • Work on preventative maintenance and energy conservation initiatives to minimize downtime and reduce energy consumption.
  • Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner and communicate work order status via tablet device or paperwork.
  • Assist other departments as needed to ensure efficient operation of the Convention Center.
  • Adhere to all ASM Global Safety Policies and Procedures while performing duties within all OSHA guidelines.
  • Respond to visual and audible alarms from building automation and life safety systems, making immediate decisions and communicating with all users of the facility in emergency situations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited technical school with specialized training in HVAC and/or maintenance.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in maintenance and repair of HVAC in an industrial or commercial setting preferred.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in the operation and maintenance of a public assembly, hotel, or other commercial facility.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience.
  • EPA universal and small appliance certification.
  • Experience in operating a forklift and aerial lift preferred, but willing to train.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of major facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, security, mechanical, and fire safety.
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, and motivate the activities of maintenance staff.
  • Working knowledge of computer-controlled systems.
  • Ability to communicate on a technical level as needed to maintain facility operating systems.
  • Proficient computer skills to operate BMS/other automated systems.
Skills and Abilities
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required; ability to interact with all levels of staff, including management.

Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk extensively, occasionally required to kneel, climb to high walkways or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms. This position requires work inside and outside of the building and some exposure to adverse conditions.
