Job Summary:

The Speech Language Pathologist will provide speech services to infants, children, and/or adults to facilitate communication. This role involves conducting initial and periodic assessments to determine current receptive and expressive communication skill levels, identifying family/educator/caregiver concerns, and suggesting areas to be addressed in the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct assessments to determine current communication skill levels and identify areas for improvement

Develop and implement therapy sessions based on assessment findings, providing suggestions for family/caregiver/teacher training on techniques to help meet individual needs

Collaborate with other UCP disciplines serving each individual as needed to best meet their needs

Maintain written documentation of visits and assessments, including completing and filing paperwork in a timely fashion according to department policy

Participate in IFSP/IEP meetings upon request and maintain good communication with families, Regional Center Service Coordinators, school staff, UCP staff, and others working with the individual and their family

Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited speech language program and current license to practice speech therapy in the State of California

Ability to read, write, and understand English, with strong oral and written communication skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other programs as needed in the position

Valid CDL and clean driving record, with ability to operate a vehicle in good working order for employee transportation

Knowledge and/or skills associated with language development, communication, augmentative communication, treatment techniques, and developmental/medical needs of individuals with a variety of disabling or at-risk conditions

Punctuality and dependability, with ability to work in an ethical and professional manner

Strong interpersonal skills, including responding well to supervision and working collaboratively and independently

Analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work with mathematical concepts as appropriate to the position
