UPMC Horizon is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist to join their team of dedicated healthcare professionals. This is a rotating shifts position that requires travel to support both UPMC Horizon-Shenango Valley and UPMC Greenville.
Responsibilities- Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures, including waived, moderately complex, and high complexity testing.
- Interact with laboratory customers professionally, respond to telephone inquiries, and practice pleasant communications.
- Meet established testing protocols for precision and accuracy, recognize critical, abnormal, and unacceptable test results, and follow-up according to established protocols.
- Assist with the training and orienting of new employees, students, and residents, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Operate and maintain equipment, perform quality control checks, and perform minor repairs.
- Associate's degree in a laboratory science with certification or equivalent education and experience.
- 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory, with familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory information systems preferred.
- ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.
