Job Title: Emergency Medical Technician

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking students enrolled in an accredited EMT program to join our Emergency Transport team as part of a paid EMT Apprentice program.

About the Role:

As an EMT Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience, skill-building, and knowledge training aimed at building the competencies needed to become a well-rounded EMS provider. You will work alongside our experienced EMTs, Paramedics, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality emergency medical services to the communities in and around the Lehigh Valley.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer basic life support to patients at the scene, en route to the hospital, and in a pre-hospital setting in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Assess the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed.
  • Treat patients at the scene, en route to the hospital, and in a pre-hospital setting in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Communicate with professional medical personnel and treatment facilities to obtain instructions regarding further treatment and/or to arrange reception of patients to the appropriate center.
  • Maintain order at scenes, including crowd disbursement and restraint of family and friends.
  • Complete patient care forms, insurance forms, evaluation forms, ambulance checklist, and all other forms in a competent and timely fashion.
  • Collaborate with other health team members to maintain a professional working relationship with all organizations at an incident.
  • Document assessments, physical findings, and treatment rendered in the pre-hospital setting on approved patient care reports within 24 hours of the dispatch of the call.
Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in and in good standing of an accredited or Authorized Pennsylvania Department of Health EMS Emergency Medical Technician Training Program.
  • Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Tact, courtesy, initiative, judgment, and the ability to follow directions are required.
