Job Title: Special Education Teacher

At Ace Amandla Charter School, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement standards-based and culturally relevant curriculum that meets the needs of students with varying abilities.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and English Language Program Teacher (ELTP) to ensure seamless integration of instruction and support.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and complete records of student academic progress, behavior, and attendance.
  • Deliver instruction in a manner that is engaging, rigorous, differentiated, and student-centered.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing clear expectations, rules, and procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with guardians regarding student progress and development.
Professional Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of student usage of instructional materials.
  • Update records accurately and completely as required by law and school/state regulations.
  • Stay current with professional knowledge and developments in the educational field.
  • Collaborate with other professional staff members and participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and committee meetings.
  • Complete Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students assigned to your caseload.
Qualifications:
  • Eligibility to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Active Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS1 Endorsement.
  • 5 or more years working in a high school setting (preferred).
