Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety: Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding transportation and workplace safety.
  • Compliance: Monitor driver qualification files and the hiring and selection process, review hours of service records for accuracy, and assure DOT drug/alcohol program compliance.
  • Crash Management: Oversee and implement the elements of a Crash Management process, including coordination of reporting, investigation, documentation, and management of incidents.
  • Training and Development: Develop materials and conduct training for drivers in the implementation of the Transportation Safety Management System, assure in-vehicle driver training is completed with every active driver, and assure vehicle inspection hands-on training is completed with every active driver.
  • Audits and Inspections: Conduct audits and inspections of fleet and vendor practices to monitor compliance, conduct DOT compliance audits at regulated sites, and institute a site self-inspection protocol for all sites.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor CSA Basic Scores to address trends and drive performance, provide field teams with CSA basic scores and reports, and oversee and monitor roadside inspection process reports.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, safety, or transportation field preferred.
  • Experience: 4-6 years' experience in transportation or trucking industries, experience in the safety industry preferred, and experience with OSHA, EPA, and DOT standards with regards to the trucking industry preferred.
  • Skills: Intermediate knowledge of Word/Excel/PowerPoint, knowledge of analytical tools (GPS/fleet monitoring software), analysis and identification of risk trends, problems, and solutions, and ability to express ideas clearly and concisely using appropriate mediums.

Working Conditions:

Some overnight travel required on an as needed basis to review other offices' adherence to company policies and regulations.
