Your Role
As a key member of the Venmo Engineering team, you will be recognized as a subject matter expert. We seek individuals with exceptional technical skills, programming expertise, and strong communication abilities who are eager to deepen their understanding of our products and enhance the resilience of our systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering initiatives and team processes by establishing clear outcomes, refining workflows, and advising senior leadership on technical strategies and challenges.
  • Act as an advocate for technical standards and best practices, guiding other engineers in their tasks.
  • Oversee the complete ownership of design, implementation, and operational excellence of software components, while continuously improving existing structures.
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap by evaluating implementation alternatives and providing insightful recommendations.
  • Maintain a solutions-oriented mindset while aligning with the broader technical vision of Venmo and PayPal.
  • Utilize strategic thinking to anticipate potential risks and consequences associated with implementation decisions.
  • Play a vital role in team processes, ensuring timely and effective delivery of solutions.
  • Serve as a resource for resolving technical inquiries from peers.
  • Provide technical leadership with minimal guidance from management.
  • Effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across various departments.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in mobile application development.
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining large-scale consumer-facing mobile applications. Proficiency in Swift/Kotlin and knowledge of multi-threaded, asynchronous programming.
  • In-depth understanding of GraphQL and REST APIs in mobile applications.
  • Passionate about mentoring and developing fellow software engineers.
  • Able to articulate complex topics to diverse audiences.
  • Strong grasp of testing best practices and familiarity with at least one mobile testing framework, including skills in writing unit and automation tests.
  • Expertise in design patterns, algorithms, and object-oriented programming, particularly MVC and MVVM.
