Position Overview
The Custodian plays a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the North 40 store. This position involves various responsibilities aimed at maintaining a welcoming environment for both customers and staff. The Custodian will report directly to the assigned supervisor or Assistant Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and supply restrooms with necessary items.
- Operate floor cleaning machines as required.
- Ensure building floors are clean through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
- Collect and dispose of trash throughout the store.
- Clean windows at the front of the store as necessary.
- Perform minor repairs as directed.
- Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water with detergents or acids according to specifications.
- Adhere to safety procedures when using chemical cleaners and power equipment to avoid damage.
- Transport heavy equipment and supplies manually or with hand trucks.
- Clear snow from sidewalks and parking areas using appropriate tools and materials.
- Exhibit a friendly demeanor and maintain a professional appearance.
- Welcome guests and engage with them positively, directing inquiries to the appropriate staff.
Qualifications
- Reliable, dedicated, and hardworking individual.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Previous janitorial experience is preferred.
- Willingness to work in various areas of the store.
- Physical capability to lift up to 60 lbs regularly and remain active throughout the shift.
- Understanding of proper lifting and loading techniques.
- Availability to meet shift requirements, including weekends and holidays, with flexible scheduling based on business needs.
