About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Counselor I to join our team at UPMC Life Changing Medicine. As a key member of our residential programs, you will provide counseling and casework services to individuals in need, promoting their overall well-being and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to consumers, addressing their mental health needs and developing personalized treatment plans.
  • Assess and document consumer functioning levels, updating records semi-annually and developing goal and service plans accordingly.
  • Collaborate with treatment team members to ensure seamless care coordination and effective communication.
  • Provide education and guidance on daily living skills, financial management, and socialization, empowering consumers to make informed life choices.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, families, and community resources, promoting a supportive and inclusive environment.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent with relevant experience in mental health counseling or a related field.
  • Valid PA driver's license and ability to pass a Driver History Review.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) certification.
  • Act 34 clearance with renewal.
  • OAPSA certification.
