Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at the North Kern State Prison. As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic recreation programs for patients within our institution. Your primary goal will be to promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our patients through recreational activities and therapy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs for patients, including individual and group activities
  • Monitor and document treatment progress, working closely with other healthcare providers to share assessment information and incorporate recreational therapy into treatment plans
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment, supervising patient conduct to protect persons and property
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients
Requirements
  • Equivalent to graduation from a recognized college with a major in recreation or recreation therapy, including supervised field work
  • Registration as a Recreation Therapist with the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification or the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, Inc.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals
