Job Summary

As a Composites Manufacturing Engineer at Impulse Space, you will be responsible for designing and developing state-of-the-art composite builds for current and future vehicles. You will work closely with cross-discipline engineering teams and outside vendors to deliver flight hardware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manufacture composite parts from process development to build, test, and integration
  • Conduct composite material coupon fabrication, testing, and allowables development
  • Improve process development for composite part manufacturing
  • Own composite process specification drafting and development
  • Design tooling for composite part fabrication, shop aids, and assembly
  • Collaborate with machinists and technicians to produce high-quality hardware
  • Work with outside vendors
  • Specify, purchase, and implement equipment for composite fabrication
  • Participate in development projects to test feasibility of composite part designs
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 2+ years of direct hands-on experience with composite part fabrication using prepreg, wet laminate, or filament winding
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficiency with CAD software and ability to learn new tools
  • Ability to adapt to a quick and scrappy work environment to a mature, highly controlled production environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in mechanical or materials engineering
  • 6+ years of direct hands-on experience with composite part fabrication using prepreg, wet laminate, or filament winding
  • Creative design solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to work with complex assemblies
  • Experience with Siemens NX
  • Prior experience with spacecraft, aircraft, or automotive composite part design and fabrication
  • Experience working on a launch vehicle or satellite development effort
  • Experience in a startup or agile development environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere
Additional Information

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, full-time hires may be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision, and dental coverage, as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
