The Vehicle Maintenance Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the Vehicle Mechanic by taking on responsibilities related to the upkeep and repair of the organization's fleet of vehicles. This position is essential for ensuring that all vehicles operate efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall mission of providing excellent care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with the Vehicle Mechanic to assist with various maintenance tasks.
2. Perform cleaning and washing of vehicles, along with oil changes and inspections of essential components such as wiring, fluids, and hoses.
3. Replace worn or damaged parts, align wheels, tune engines, and adjust braking systems.
4. Conduct repairs by disassembling and overhauling engines, clutches, and other mechanical assemblies.
5. Estimate the materials and time required for repairs, and manage the requisition of new parts and tools.
6. Adhere to established safety protocols while performing all maintenance work.
7. Demonstrate troubleshooting skills to identify vehicle issues and determine necessary repairs.
8. Operate within the guidelines for all vehicle systems and repairs.
9. Order and manage supplies for repairs, ensuring timely delivery.
10. Maintain accurate records of receipts and invoices for monthly reporting.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- A minimum of one year of experience in vehicle maintenance and operation.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Driver's License - Class D is mandatory, issued by the appropriate authority.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in maintaining tools and equipment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Work Schedule:
Variable hours are expected for this role.
