Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Histo Technologist to join our team in Charlotte, NC. As a key member of our histology laboratory, you will be responsible for:


  • Accessioning specimens, preparing frozen sections, and assisting in gross specimen examination.
  • Preparing fixed tissue specimens, and cutting, mounting, and staining tissue sections for microscopic examination by a pathologist.
  • Performing frozen section preparations efficiently, ensuring tissue is embedded properly, cut accurately, and stained correctly for prompt diagnosis.
  • Conducting routine, special stains, and immunohistochemical stains.
  • Recognizing deviations from expected results and using judgment to determine appropriate actions.
  • Assisting with autopsies according to standard procedures as assigned.
  • Organizing and preparing tissue specimens and assisting in gross examination.
  • Ensuring order accuracy and choosing the correct lab for testing when sending specimens to other laboratories.
  • Storing or disposing of prepared specimens, slides, and blocks neatly and retrievably.
  • Completing required daily procedures with accuracy.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires working in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals, pathogens, and patient blood and body fluids. The successful candidate will be able to:


  • Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with moderate lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying; must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally more with assistance.
  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and reaching, with long periods of computer use.
