City Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general oversight of the Public Works Director, the City Engineer is responsible for executing complex professional and analytical tasks that require significant independent judgment. This role involves providing engineering and administrative support for various utility projects, including environmental, water, wastewater, streets, and drainage systems, ensuring adherence to all relevant codes and standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. **Project Management:** Plan, oversee, and coordinate the design and inspection of construction projects to guarantee compliance with engineering specifications and municipal regulations.
2. **Documentation Review:** Direct the evaluation of project reports, engineering plans, construction specifications, and contract documents prepared by both internal staff and external consultants.
3. **Capital Improvement Oversight:** Manage the implementation of capital improvement projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budgetary constraints.
4. **Contract Management:** Draft, modify, and review agreements related to utility operations, including service agreements and consultant contracts.
5. **Regulatory Compliance:** Ensure familiarity with and compliance to regulations concerning permits and utility operations.
6. **Collaboration:** Represent the City in discussions with public officials, citizens, and regulatory bodies, preparing reports, agreements, and recommendations as necessary.
7. **Budget Management:** Monitor revenues and expenditures within assigned areas, ensuring effective fiscal control and preparing annual budget requests.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, along with 2-5 years of relevant experience in design, construction, and permitting. A Florida Professional Engineer license is required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Must possess and maintain Florida Registered Engineer (PE) certification or be able to obtain registration within six months of employment. A valid Florida Driver's License is also required.
