Job Summary:

Urology America, MSO is seeking a highly skilled Histotechnologist to join our team in the preparation of microscopic tissue slides for diagnostic purposes. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for preparing slides from formalin-fixed specimens to the finished stained slides, maintaining specimens, accessing specimens, equipment logs, and laboratory environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Slide Preparation: Prepare microscopic slides on human tissue for diagnostic purposes, ensuring accurate and precise results.
  • Histochemical and Immunohistochemical Stains: Perform histochemical and immunohistochemical stains on a variety of slide-mounted tissues, adhering to established protocols and quality control measures.
  • Data Entry and Record-Keeping: Perform manual and computerized data entry to accession specimens and maintain logs and records, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Reagent Preparation and Maintenance: Prepare or maintain all necessary reagents, including stains, alcohols, and paraffin's, according to proper specification and quality control measures.
  • Laboratory Equipment Maintenance: Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adhering to established maintenance schedules.
  • Accurate Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance, and organizing slides and tissue blocks in a manner that facilitates patient medical record access.
  • Microtomy and Other Functions: Use microtomes, tissue processors, and tissue embedding and slide staining stations to perform microtomy and other functions related to the production of diagnostic microscope slides.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School Diploma required.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in a histology laboratory setting.
  • Certification: HT certification by the ASCP (American Society for Pathology Services).
  • Skills: Knowledge of programming and operation of Histology-related IHC equipment, basic knowledge of Windows Office Products, data entry, and patient demographics.
  • Personal Qualities: Ability to approach problems/decisions analytically, excellent communication and verbal skills, ability to prioritize and interact effectively with all levels of management, staff, and physicians, and ability to work with minimum supervision.
