Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Access Service Representative to join our team at Sharp Coronado Hospital. As an Access Service Representative, you will be responsible for coordinating all registration functions necessary to ensure the processing of a clean claim, including obtaining and processing patient demographics, visit and financial information. You will also be responsible for providing premier customer service to patients and their families.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates all registration functions necessary to ensure the processing of a clean claim.
  • Obtains and processes patient demographics, visit and financial information.
  • Provides premier customer service to patients and their families.
  • Uses scripting to review Conditions of Admission (COA) and update appropriate Centricity fields.
  • Delivers regulatory forms, such as Tricare Rights and Important Message from Medicare (IMM), to patients as necessary.
  • Initiates Health Information Exchange (HIE) process as appropriate.
  • Documents Imaging - Secure necessary Access Service related documents and scan to correct form/identifier.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in a business service setting.
  • Must have experience communicating effectively both verbally and in writing professionally.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology, insurances, billing and collections guidelines/criteria, Local, State, and Federal regulations governing registration/billing activities, and ICD-10, CPT, and/or RVS coding.
  • Knowledge of Medicare Important Message, Medicare Secondary Payor, Tricare Third Party Liability, Auto Accident and Work Comp, and Medicare/Outpatient Observation Notice.
