Job Summary:

The Supervising Ultrasound Specialist will be responsible for providing technical guidance and oversight to sonography staff, ensuring the highest standards of quality and excellence in imaging procedures. This role will also involve coordinating workflow, providing professional guidance, and conferring with medical staff as needed. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining quality assurance logs, updating policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and maintain the highest possible standards of quality in ultrasound services, adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and assist in departmental operations on a daily basis, ensuring efficient and effective workflow.
  • Provide leadership and support interdepartmental teamwork, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Schedule personnel and monitor work schedules to provide adequate coverage on all shifts, ensuring seamless patient care.
  • Participate in the quality improvement process to enhance patient outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Perform a variety of vascular ultrasound procedures, utilizing 2-dimensional, M-Mode, color flow, and Doppler imaging techniques as required.
  • Produce clear and undistorted images, identifying and visualizing all necessary anatomy, measurements, and correctly labeling structures.
  • Document patient information, test results, and measurements accurately, recognizing normal and abnormal vascular anatomy and physiology.
  • Report critical values and abnormal findings to physicians, utilizing established protocols and procedures.
  • Monitor equipment and department supplies, organizing work areas and maintaining supplies.

Education and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess a Graduate of an accredited program for Ultrasonography, with a minimum of 3 years of experience as an ultrasonographer and 2 years of supervisory experience. Active membership in the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) with RVT certification or ICAVL accredited is required. Strong proficiency in computer-based programs such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is also necessary. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, able to work well with other team members and consultants, and be flexible and adaptable in a complex, matrix environment.

Salary: $83,000 - $110,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
