Position Overview
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will provide essential care for residents in a facility dedicated to long-term care, memory support, short-term rehabilitation, and independent living for seniors.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Administer medications and treatments following established protocols.
- Deliver safe and efficient personal care to residents.
- Utilize safety devices and adhere to infection control standards.
- Respond to call lights and assist residents as needed.
- Uphold residents' rights consistently.
- Document all medications, treatments, and care provided.
- Assist in orienting new staff members.
- Engage in resident care planning and update care plans as necessary.
- Assess residents, document findings, and communicate with physicians.
- Notify resident sponsors of any changes in condition.
- Manage controlled substances accurately during your shift.
- Complete necessary documentation, including nursing notes and transfer forms.
- Support the operational needs of the unit.
- Schedule and assist with medical appointments for residents.
- Administer and record health testing results for employees.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current Indiana Professional License or a license from an NLC participating state.
- Proficiency in computer skills and the ability to learn electronic medical record systems.
- Current CPR and BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Dementia certification (6 hours) prior to employment.
- Experience in long-term care settings.
Preferred:
- Experience with EMR systems, particularly Matrix Care.
- Background in memory care.
- Experience in short-term rehabilitation settings.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform essential job functions in accordance with ADA and other standards. This position involves primarily sedentary work, with occasional movement required for meetings and other tasks. Ability to perform repetitive tasks on a computer is necessary.
