We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Surgical Unit Assistant to join our team at Oswego Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care and support to patients in accordance with established nursing care procedures.

Job Summary

The Medical Surgical Unit Assistant provides vital support to the nursing team, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care. Your role will involve assisting with daily care tasks, such as feeding, bathing, and dressing patients, as well as performing various medical procedures, including intake and output, vital sign checks, and specimen collection.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including routine daily care tasks, such as feeding, bathing, and dressing patients.
  • Perform medical procedures, including intake and output, vital sign checks, and specimen collection.
  • Assist with transfers, admissions, and discharges, ensuring that patients are comfortable and safe throughout the process.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient care, including documentation of treatments, medications, and other relevant information.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care transitions.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in New York State. You should also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
