Job Summary:
The Director of Manufacturing Operations is a pivotal role responsible for the overall management of our recycling polymer plant. This includes operations, maintenance, EHSQ (Environmental, Health, Safety, and Quality), and site logistics departments. The Director will lead the facility in achieving excellence in manufacturing, safety, environmental stewardship, and employee engagement, driving the plant towards operational excellence and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership for the plant, aligning with corporate objectives and market demands. Develop and execute long-term plans to enhance operational efficiency, profitability, and sustainability.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee the plant's day-to-day operations across all departments, ensuring coordination and optimization of activities. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
- Safety and Environmental Compliance: Champion a culture of safety and environmental responsibility, ensuring compliance with all EHSQ regulations and corporate policies. Oversee the implementation of comprehensive safety programs and environmental management systems.
- Maintenance and Reliability: Ensure the maintenance department delivers effective maintenance strategies, practices, and schedules to maximize equipment reliability and plant availability.
- Logistics and Supply Chain Management: Oversee logistics operations to ensure efficient material flow, storage, and distribution aligned with production schedules and sales department needs.
- Human Resources and Organizational Development: Collaborate with HR to develop and implement human resources strategies that attract, develop, and retain a highly skilled and engaged workforce. Foster a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and professional growth.
- Financial Management: Develop and manage the plant budget, including operating and capital expenditure, to ensure financial targets are met. Monitor financial performance, identify variances, and implement corrective actions to optimize financial health.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for all plant stakeholders, including employees, corporate leadership, regulatory agencies, and the community. Build and maintain positive relationships to support plant and corporate objectives.
- Crisis Management and Emergency Response: Lead the site in emergency preparedness and response, ensuring effective plans are in place for crisis management and business continuity.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field to polymer.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the chemical or polymer industry.
- Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, EHSQ standards, and regulatory compliance requirements. Demonstrated success in strategic planning, team leadership, and financial management.
- Personal Qualities: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of building and motivating high-performance teams. Proficiency in crisis management, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
Working Conditions:
- This position is based in a manufacturing plant environment and may require exposure to hazardous materials, loud noises, and machinery. The Director of Manufacturing Operations must be available to work beyond standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed, to support plant operations and emergencies.
