Job Title: Occupational Therapist

Job Summary:

Better Life Home Health is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping our patients maintain and improve their physical and mental abilities, enabling them to live independently and safely in their homes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients' needs and develop personalized treatment plans to improve their functional abilities and prevent disability.
  • Conduct initial therapy assessments and periodic reassessments to monitor patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
  • Document patients' progress and treatment plans in accordance with Better Life Home Health's policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive comprehensive care.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in occupational therapy.

Requirements:

  • Current Florida Occupational Therapy license.
  • Current Florida driver's license with proof of active auto insurance.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Graduated from an occupational therapist education program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. (AOTA), or successor organizations of ACOTE.
  • Eligible to take or has successfully completed the entry-level certification exam for occupational therapists developed and administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Inc. NBCOT.
  • Certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 1-year working as an Occupational Therapist preferred, however recent graduates and newly licensed OTs are encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum of 1-year working with a frail or elderly population preferred.
  • Experience working with Alzheimer's and people with dementia preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to evaluate, plan, and implement a program of purposeful activities to develop or maintain functional skills necessary to achieve the maximal physical or mental functioning, or both, of the individual in his daily occupational performance and the promotion of wellness.
  • Demonstrates skills reflecting knowledge of resources and basic treatment skills in the following areas activities of daily evaluation, adaptive equipment, orthotics design, and application, upper motor neuron disease, rheumatology, sensory-motor integration disorders, and the adaptation of physical environments for the handicapped.
  • Ability to interpret age-specific data and provide age-specific treatment.
  • Good judgment, problem-solving, and cognitive skills.
  • Knowledge of gerontology and enthusiasm for treating the geriatric population.
  • Patience and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards in the home and improvements to establish a safer environment.
