We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team at J.S. Held LLC. As a key member of our Forensics department, you will be responsible for conducting forensic investigations, providing consultation, and preparing technical papers. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping our clients navigate complex, contentious, and often catastrophic situations.
Responsibilities- Conduct field observations, testing, and data collection to identify the root cause of structural damage or failures.
- Prepare detailed reports outlining your findings, testing results, and recommendations for repair or mitigation.
- Collaborate with building departments to determine repair directives and ensure compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
- Assist in conducting research and developing technical topics for publication, as well as presenting findings to peers and clients.
- Engage in client-relations marketing and provide expert testimony as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
- PE or SE license.
- Highly qualified and experienced EI/EITs are considered.
- Familiarity with modern building codes and industry standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel and conduct site inspections.
- A valid driver's license.
- Experience as a forensic engineer.
- Testimony experience as a designated expert witness.
- Experience in engineering design or construction.
- Experience conducting damage assessments and forensic investigations.
- Storm damage and building envelope evaluation experience is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Ability to travel to various project sites and conduct field investigations.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Ability to work in hot and cold environments, both indoors and outdoors.
J.S. Held LLC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including flexible work environment, flexible time off policy, medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k match, and commuter benefits. A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $90k - $150k, based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, etc.
