Job Summary

A Trades Specialist (Electrician) is responsible for performing electrical work, including planning and laying out work, diagnosing trouble in electrical systems or equipment, and repairing, maintaining, and installing electrical systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs journeyman level electrical duties, including repairs, maintenance, and installation of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Works with a wide variety of control equipment, including building heating, air conditioning, and ventilating equipment controls, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Performs maintenance and preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment, including bathroom exhaust fans, clothes dryers, sump pumps, and generators.
  • Trains and supervises others, and has the ability to climb ladders, work from scaffolding, and use mechanical lifts.
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the electrical trade.
  • Working knowledge of applicable standards and electrical code regulations.
  • Ability to use the tools, machines, equipment, and materials of the electrical trade.
  • Ability to train and supervise others.
  • Ability to plan and lay out work and diagnose problems.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, diagrams, architectural blueprints, and specifications.
