The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing plant run smoothly and efficiently. This includes maintaining the physical assets of the property, performing general building maintenance, and repairing and servicing manufacturing equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Complete projects with minimal guidance, demonstrating a proactive attitude to minimize equipment downtime and lost production capability.
- Troubleshoot mechanical devices in operation, dismantle and examine devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, and adjust, repair, or replace defective parts.
- Set up and operate shop machinery, such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, band saws, cutting torches, welders, etc., using hand tools and pneumatic tools to modify or repair parts and equipment.
- Install new or repair/modify hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as needed.
- Troubleshoot electrical controls, including PLCs, motors, and variable speed drive systems, with the ability to work on power systems up to 480VAC.
- Improve the reliability and uptime of all equipment, taking a proactive approach to equipment issues with a preventive maintenance mentality.
- Operate forklifts and hydraulic working platforms as needed.
- Research supplies, parts, and tools needed to complete work orders.
- Assist in identifying and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts.
- Contribute to the upkeep and updating of required paperwork, such as records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings, PM logs, etc.
- Support the vision, mission, and guiding principles of the company.
- Follow applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines while performing job duties.
- Maintain departmental housekeeping.
- Other projects/duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree (A.A.) or Licensed Journeyman in lieu of degree or commensurate experience preferred.
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting control systems, electric components, pneumatic, instrumentation, and mechanical devices.
- Proven expertise in industrial electrical, including design, sizing, installation, and component-level troubleshooting.
- Experience in other fields of maintenance, such as plumbing, refrigeration, carpentry, welding, forklift repair, etc.
- Competent PC (MS Office and Windows) computer skills desired.

Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and/or hear.

The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area, such as safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc.
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
