Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer plays a crucial role in comprehending, defining, documenting, and enhancing production processes and parameters for products. This position also ensures that manufacturing equipment adheres to safety regulations. The Manufacturing Engineer collaborates across various internal teams, including Sales, R&D, Production, Quality, Plant Engineering, Maintenance, and Customer Service. This role requires an innovative and strategic thinker who can visualize the broader objectives and outline the necessary tactical steps to achieve them.

The Manufacturing Engineer will also undertake project management tasks, which include calculating material volume requirements, coordinating the delivery of materials for specific production runs, and compiling quotes for trials. Effective communication and collaboration with R&D, Production, and Quality teams, as well as interfacing with customers to ensure timely production, are essential aspects of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, define, and document current manufacturing processes and workflows.
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments and cost-reduction initiatives to refine manufacturing processes and assist in the development of new product processes.
  • Troubleshoot and enhance manufacturing processes to boost efficiency and create work instructions for changeovers and production.
  • Engage with and educate operators to refine and define manufacturing processes while ensuring the Quality Management System (QMS) is maintained and current.
  • Compile product and process reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, collaborating with Plant Engineering, Maintenance, and vendors on various projects.
  • Support the installation of new equipment and participate in Value Stream Mapping activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering – Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Chemical with over 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Technical expertise in pumps, mixing equipment, and filtration systems.
  • Extensive understanding of production principles and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of industrial electronics.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, data analysis software, and related tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in chemical handling or thermal drying processes.
  • Familiarity with web handling and roll-to-roll coating processes, including paper, film, or foil manufacturing, as well as glass manufacturing or float glass production.
  • Experience with LEAN manufacturing principles (green belt certification).
  • Project management experience.
