Job Summary

Northwell Health is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will work with patients to develop and implement treatment plans that improve their gross and fine motor coordination, movement, and function of upper extremities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer direct patient care in accordance with the written and signed prescription of the referring physician or other State authorized practitioner.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to improve patient functioning in daily life.
  • Provide patient remediation in deficit areas to assist patients in achieving maximum functioning.
  • Review and arrange for required Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and instruct patients in use and protocols for dealing with malfunction of same.
  • Participate in quality improvement chart reviews and activities.
  • Treat patients with acute or developmental disabilities using methods including but not limited to: kinetic activities, perceptual training, and developmental sequencing.
  • Instruct patients and significant caregivers in daily living skills to promote a more independent and self-sufficient level of functioning.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Current License to practice as a Registered Occupational Therapist in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience required.
