Join our esteemed Critical Care Nursing Department at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System.
As a Registered Nurse, you will deliver expert nursing care to patients, adhering to the 'patient-centered care' model in alignment with the ANA and AACN's Standards of Professional Practice. Our unit comprises 62 beds, featuring three specialized areas for your professional growth.
Specialty Areas:
Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU):
Patient Demographics:
This unit caters to patients primarily diagnosed with advanced cardiovascular conditions, necessitating intricate nursing assessments and care, including but not limited to:
- Recovery from Open Heart Surgery
- Management of Cardiac Arrest
Advanced Device Management:
- Care for Left Ventricular Assist Devices: Impella & IABP
- ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)
- Advanced Hemodynamic Monitoring
- Administration of vasoactive medications (inotropes, vasopressors, vasodilators)
*We offer tailored orientation programs for both novice and experienced nurses, including a Nurse Residency for new graduates, incorporating ECCO (Essentials of Critical Care Orientation).
We also provide tuition reimbursement and opportunities for paid certifications, such as CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) and TCAR, alongside a Critical Care Internship with educational lectures.
*Currently, we are not hiring new graduates for the CVICU.
Essential Qualifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification is mandatory for experienced RNs and must be completed by the end of orientation for novice Critical Care RNs
- Successful completion of a Basic Arrhythmia test within 90 days of hire
- BSN is required within five years of hire for ASN candidates
- Proficient knowledge of commonly used computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred upon hire.
- Certification in a nursing specialty area is preferred.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN):
A degree in nursing is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
BLS:
Basic Life Support certification
CPR Certification
Florida RN License:
Must possess a valid Florida Registered Nurse License.
Work Schedule:
Our shifts are structured as 12-hour shifts.
- Day Shift: Currently no positions available, but future opportunities may arise.
- Night Shift: Positions available, working three days a week from 7 PM to 7:30 AM.
