Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at The Leona Group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in speech-language pathology and experience working with students with communication disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Screen, assess, and identify students with communication disorders that adversely affect their educational progress.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to address communication disorders, including speech sound production, receptive and expressive language, fluency, voice, and oral motor skills.
  • Provide direct and indirect services to students, including individual and group therapy sessions, and consult with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement strategies to support students with communication disorders.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and to provide consultation services to teachers and other professionals.
  • Assess and select augmentative and alternative communication systems and provide training to students, families, and other service providers.
  • Participate in hearing screening programs and refer students with suspected hearing impairment or middle ear disorders.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of speech pathology assistants and interns, as needed.
  • Communicate with students, families, and other service providers to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
Requirements
  • A teaching certificate with an endorsement in speech pathology, a Certificate of Clinical Competency in speech pathology, or a master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited program.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of speech-language therapy, including assessment and treatment of communication disorders.
  • Experience working with students with communication disorders and knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations regarding special education records, due process, and service provision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and other service providers and to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
