Radiation Therapist Job DescriptionIn this role, you will play a vital part in the healthcare team by delivering prescribed radiation treatments to patients with cancer and other diseases. You will work under the direction of a radiation oncologist and ensure that treatments are administered accurately and safely while providing compassionate care and support to patients.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer prescribed radiation therapy treatments using advanced medical equipment.
- Prepare and position patients for treatment, ensuring comfort and accuracy in alignment.
- Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, ensuring proper functionality.
- Review and verify treatment plans, prescriptions, and patient records.
- Monitor patients during treatment for adverse reactions or changes in condition, taking appropriate action if necessary.
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and medical physicists to deliver optimal care.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment procedures, side effects, and post-treatment care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, adjustments, and patient progress.
- Adhere to safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and continuous professional development.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy or related field.
- Certification and licensure as a Radiation Therapist (e.g., ARRT certification).
- In-depth understanding of human anatomy, radiation physics, and oncology.
- Strong technical skills to operate complex medical equipment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support patients emotionally and physically.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to fast-paced environments.
