Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health and Safety Professional to join our team at Loves Travel Stops & Country Store. As a key member of our safety department, you will play a critical role in empowering our managers with the resources and education needed to eliminate or mitigate workplace hazards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Integrate various occupational health and safety programs to ensure the highest possible degree of safety for all Loves employees.
  • Hazard Identification and Evaluation: Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, and develop strategies to mitigate or eliminate them.
  • Conduct Inspections and Audits: Conduct on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices, and measure the effectiveness of our hazard control system.
  • Training and Development: Conduct specialized safety and health training programs to communicate hazard control information and foster a safety-centric culture within our organization.
  • Analysis and Reporting: Analyze data and prepare actionable recommendations to eliminate or minimize potential hazards, and incorporate essential occupational health and safety requirements into existing processes and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of related experience or training preferred.
  • Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office, training or knowledge of occupational health and safety compliance with applicable federal and state regulations/standards, ability to hands-on train on health and safety, requires experience in implementation of health and safety programs, policies, procedures, and processes as well as working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, FRA, PHMSA, and EPA), and the ability to use the Internet.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping; occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator; requires normal range of hearing and vision.
  • Travel: Travel is required.
