Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Radiology Imaging Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for key activities associated with the Department of Radiology Imaging scheduling system for multiple locations. This includes scheduling exams and procedures, processing paperwork, verifying and obtaining authorizations for all outpatient and in-patient exams, assisting staff and patients, providing directions, and answering a multi-line phone system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule exams and procedures for multiple locations, including the Center for Translational Imaging and Precision Medicine (CTIPM) and the Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI)
  • Process paperwork and verify authorizations for all outpatient and in-patient exams
  • Assist staff and patients, provide directions, and answer a multi-line phone system
  • Coordinate requests and resources to optimize efficiency of testing sequence and resource utilization
  • Provide requesting person information as to starting time and clinical preparation
  • Transport patients as needed and assist the Technologist in ordering and maintaining supplies
Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health information and medical terminology, with an emphasis in Radiology
  • Demonstrated experience in insurance authorization (Medi-Cal, TAR, Medicare, HMO)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a clinic front/desk reception area with multiple phone lines and a large volume of incoming calls
  • Demonstrated experience working in a clinical setting dealing with patients and related personnel
  • Demonstrated experience using patient scheduling systems, information retrieval, and data entry, with knowledge of medical records management
  • Proficiency in the use of database management and word processing software in a MS Office environment, with demonstrated skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet, and email
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and patient privacy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility, dealing with diverse personalities and situations
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure calmly and efficiently, cope with variable workloads, and simultaneously keep track of many diverse activities, requests, and directions
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and responsibility for assigned functions and carry tasks through to completion
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, including proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Demonstrated active listening skills and ability to act upon patient's concerns with a caring demeanor
  • Ability to accurately assess urgency of problems and act accordingly
  • Graduation from high school and three years of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of UCSD Medical Center and School of Medicine policies and procedures
Special Conditions
  • Must be willing to work variable hours/shifts, including weekends, overtime, and holidays per business need
  • Must be flexible to travel and work in multiple locations, with access to reliable transportation
  • Background check and Physical exam required

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $68,883 - $68,883 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $32.99 - $32.99

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
