We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cleaner to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

• Wash and sanitize floors, walls, and surfaces using various cleaning solutions and equipment.
• Empty trash and recyclables, and transport them to designated areas.
• Collect and dispose of medical waste and spoiled linens in accordance with established procedures.
• Assemble and maintain cleaning carts and equipment, and mix and dilute cleaning solutions as needed.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols to prevent injury and exposure to hazardous materials.
• Check supplies and equipment, and notify supervisors of any issues or concerns.
• Perform specialized cleaning tasks, such as stripping and waxing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, and dusting high places.
• Clean and disinfect lavatories, locker rooms, and other high-touch areas.
• Remove hazardous materials and dispose of them properly.
• Perform other duties as assigned, such as moving furniture and equipment, and setting up for meetings and events.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and stand for long periods.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation and meet the requirements for the position.
